The addictive PUBG is banned in India with 117 new Chinese apps

The addictive mobile game based on virtual warfare – PUBG has been banned by the Indian government, along with 117 other Chinese apps. This is an effect of the heightened tension between the two nations India and China regarding the border areas of Ladakh

PUBG is very popular with an approx count of 50 million downloads and 33 million active users in India. Also, the report confirmed that there are 13 million daily users in India clock-in PUBG mobile game. 

The ministry of information and technology has decided to ban these 118 Chinese apps under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act. The Indian government passed a notion regarding this ban mentioning, “They are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, the security of the state and public order“.

They further clarified in the statement, “This decision is a targeted move to ensure safety, security, and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace“. As per them, this is required to safeguard the interests of the millions of internet users in India

The ministry clarified that they were receiving complaints regarding the misuse of some mobile apps on both iOS and Android platforms. Also, some apps are blamed for stealing and secretively transmitting user data to different servers outside India and this is a very sensitive factor related to the nation’s security. 

The compilation of these data, it’s mining and profiling by elements hostile to national security and defense of India, which ultimately impinges upon the sovereignty and integrity of India, is a matter of very deep and immediate concern which requires emergency measures”, the ministry of information and technology further clarified in a statement. They also confirmed that they will take strict actions against such applications “that harm India’s sovereignty as well as the privacy of our citizens“. 

So finally the popular mobile game PUBG is banned in India and it will disappoint the millions of fans of PUBG. But considering the nation’s security and sovereignty this decision by the Indian ministry should be greeted positively with the hope of a secure future.
