As CES 2021 kicks off this week, Pioneer Electronics has announced its latest in-dash receiver with compatibility for CarPlay. The new DMH-WC5700NEX features are compatible with both wireless and wired CarPlay and can be availed from this summer.
The greatest modifier of Pioneer’s latest CarPlay receiver is the modular design. The company claims that the DMH-WC5700NEX is created to provide those with few or limited dash space, an in-dash upgrade solution for their main unit.
Ted Cardenas, vice president of marketing for Pioneer Electronics, said:
“With the DMH-WC5700NEX, Pioneer provides an automotive upgrade solution for many different vehicles that typically have been extremely restrictive or even impossible with regard to the installation of an aftermarket in-dash receiver, including several popular late-model Chevrolet vehicles such as the Silverado and Camaro. With this solution, owners of these vehicles now have an option for adding Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and more to enhance and upgrade their driving experience.”
The DMH-WC5700NEX comprises of a 6.8-inch touchscreen and can adjust in 2-DIN dashes. The modular design implies that the original display can be isolated from the rest of the head unit, enabling the bulk of the chassis to be positioned elsewhere. Pioneer will make two distinct optional extension cables to link the display to the remaining head unit.
This would authorize you to put the display in the centre console, but position the “guts” of the head unit out of the way.
The modular DMH-WC5700NEX also provide support for Amazon Alexa and Android Auto apart from wired and wireless CarPlay. However, no update about cost has been declared. Pioneer scheduled the release for the summer of 2021.
