OnePlus Renames Fnatic Mode To Pro Gaming Mode With The End Of Its Fnatic Partnership

Initially, OnePlus partnered with the professional eSports organization Fnatic during the OnePlus 7 series back in 2019. The collaboration resulted in a new gaming mode for OnePlus phones, named Fnatic Mode, along with an easter egg and a few Fnatic-themed wallpapers. Following the OnePlus 7 series launch, the new mode slowly rolled out to many older OnePlus phones, and it has since remained a significant part of OxygenOS. However, that’s going to change soon.

Recently, OnePlus began rolling out OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 3 based on Android 11 for the OnePlus 7 series. According to the changelog, the update comprised only a couple of optimizations and bug fixes. But, it also brings a change for the Fnatic Mode. The gaming mode has been renamed “Pro gaming Mode” in the newest Open Beta release.

As the company hadn’t announced anything officially about this change, we dug into the release to be assured about the change. We spotted many new “Pro gaming Mode” strings in the OnePlus Games app.

As OnePlus’ collaboration with Fnatic has always been a branding/marketing partnership, you shouldn’t expect to find any functional changes in the new Pro Gaming Mode. All of its features will remain the same, but it may not have the Fnatic easter egg or the Fnatic-themed wallpapers.
