Variety reports that HBO is in on the verge of making a six-episode limited series on the foundation of SpaceX and Elon Musk. The show is inspired by Ashlee Vance’s biography of the Tesla CEO and SpaceX founder. Surprisingly the successful entrepreneur himself isn’t proactively engaged in the project.
The limited series is expected to highlight Musk recruiting a small team of engineers, and their design of the first SpaceX rocket, followed by its launch. Channing Tatum and his production company along with Doug Jung will executive-produce the series, and it will be written by Jung. He had written many sci-fi films in the past, that includes Star Trek Beyond and the Netflix series Mindhunter.
The portrayal of SpaceX and Musk is expected to be an interesting one. The unconventional billionaire founder will be depicted for the first time in a work of biographical fiction.
Musk’s start-up SpaceX is also a great inspiration, as it approached Russian space companies to potentially buy a ready-made rocket, before realizing that it was way too costly. Then they decided to build their own.
