Have you thought the story of the mysterious metallic monolith to be uncanny? For a change, remember it’s 2020 and nothing is absurd. In the aftermath of the mystifying discovery and subsequent disappearance of a monolith from the middle of the Utah desert earlier this month, it appears that there is an identical object discovered in Romania.
A structure that seems to be similar to the one in the Utah desert was located on the Batca Doamnei Hill in Romania on Nov. 26, as per The Mirror. As was the instance with the monolith spotted in Utah, it’s uncertain where this one originated from and who installed it.
Many things are unknown about the findings of these weird objects. When Utah’s Department of Public Safety first found 2001: Space Odyssey-Esque monolith, people pondered whether it was the handiwork of aliens, or perhaps artwork by sculptor John McCracken, who expired in 2011. No one knows all the answers, or how the Utah structure disappeared, but some Reddit users guess that the monolith could have been a leftover Westworld prop or a McCracken piece.
In a statement last week, officials from the Bureau of Land Management in Utah said the monolith was gone, but they aren’t aware who took it.
According to a statement issued by Bureau of Land Management (BLM), they have received reliable reports that the illegally installed structure, called ‘monolith’ has been removed from BLM public lands by an unspecified party. The BLM wasn’t involved in the removal of the structure, considered to be private property. They are not authorized to probe into crimes involving private property which are handled by the local sheriff’s office.
The emergence of an identical structure in Europe is an anomalous addition to this puzzle. It may be solved with more internet sleuthing if nothing else.
